Statement of Philosophy

 

At TeamKids, we exist to enrich children’s lives and are dedicated to providing a welcoming, stimulating, and safe environment for primary school-aged children. The TeamKids core values of genuine, involved, innovative, remarkable and fun, are embedded in all aspects of our operations. Our programs are designed in consultation with educators, management, children/young people, and families to support their learning, growth, and development. We believe in each child’s uniqueness and active role in their learning. Our flexible indoor and outdoor experiences cater to their diverse needs. We strive to foster secure and respectful relationships with children, young people and their families, promoting a sense of belonging. Positive peer relationships are also encouraged to enhance their well-being. We invest in the professional development of our diverse team of educators, recognising its positive impact on the children and young people in our care.

Our philosophy is reflected in the following goals:

1. Provide a high-quality program accessible to all children, young people and families, celebrating their diversity and meeting their individual needs.

2. Collaborate with families, children, young people, educators, management, local schools, and the community to develop relevant and responsive programs.

3. Offer age-appropriate and flexible experiences that support each child’s growth and development through leisure-based, play-centred approaches.

4. Foster independence, individuality, creativity, self-esteem, and confidence in each child, acknowledging their contribution to their own program experience.

5. Provide adaptable resources, equipment, and play spaces that facilitate exploration, learning, communication, and growth.

6. Establish appropriate boundaries and guidelines to ensure safety, respect, and value for all children and young people, promoting respectful relationships.

7. Cultivate a program that prioritises respect for the environment and others, encouraging sustainability practices and informed choices for well-being.

8. Support educators with resources and professional development opportunities in middle childhood development, health, safety, and best practices.

9. Implement the approved learning framework, My Time, Our Place (Framework for school-aged children), integrating children’s interests, skills, and backgrounds through intentional teaching and diverse experiences.

10. Comply with education and care regulations, national laws, and quality standards, ensuring holistic service planning, provision, and reflection.

11. Uphold ethical responsibilities outlined in the ECA Code of Ethics and the UN Rights of the Child, as well as the Child Safe Standards in each state and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
